TAOIST PHYSICAL SPIRITUAL WARRIOR ENERGY PRACTICE
KUNG FU
Feng Shou or “Hand of the Wind” Kung Fu is the softest style of kung fu in existence. Although this ancient Taoist art can provide a highly effective means of self-defence, its primary aim is not martial, but rather to open the channels of the body, develop an agile mind, and move internal energy quickly and precisely to where it is needed.
TAI CHI
The first version of the Taiji or Tai Chi form taught within the Lee Family Taoist arts was created around 3,000 years ago. The form and the various related partner exercises predate most of the arts taught in modern China. They embody principles relating to nature, representing thousands of years of accumulated Taoist knowledge.
QI GONG
In Chinese, Qi refers both to the natural energy of the body and the energy that permeates all things in the universe. Gong means to work hard, specifically to develop a skill over a period of time. In terms of the course, this means you will sweat—and ache—but also that your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual energies will benefit.

About the Teacher
Hi! I’m Billy. I’ve been studying the Lee Family (Lishi) Taoist arts for over a decade, and my passion continues to grow daily. These arts have transformed my life in every way imaginable. I have taught at venues and institutions across Leeds, where we have just opened Sea Cloud Hall, a Centre of Excellence for the Taoist arts! I started the class in Wakefield in 2024 to provide young adults with a practice for wellbeing and balance, and to counter the stresses of modern life. Sign up below and start your journey today!

FAQs
Is this suitable for beginners?
Yes! Whether or not you have experience in movement practice, you are a beginner in Tao practice, and guaranteed to learn something new!
I want a gentle class/I’m recovering from injury. Is this suitable?
Done correctly, the practice will repair and restore. However, be aware that this is a high energy class aimed at younger people and it involves a lot of exercise. If you are looking for a gentle Tai Chi or Tao Yoga class, email me at billy@lishi.org for other options.
Can I just try one class?
I suggest attending the 4-week course to get a proper feel for the arts and make a decision as to whether they are for you. If the course is not fully booked, I might be able to offer you an alternative start date or a one-off taster session. Email me at billy@lishi.org to check.
What should I wear?
Wear loose, comfortable clothes and indoor trainers or plimsoles (for safety reasons the class cannot be done barefoot/in socks).
