Lishi Taoist YANG Arts is the more dynamic component of the Lishi training system. The faster paced movements are used for training coordination, cardio-vascular stamina, presence of mind, precise smooth motion and self-defence.
In addition to various forms with and without weapons, we work with partners to help improve our understanding of the human body and the flow of energy. We learn to practise through cooperation and not competition. The class can be adapted for all fitness levels, but it is possible to build to fast flowing motions, similar in look to other martial arts.
We typically think of self-defence on a physical level, but emotionally and mentally, we are attacked every day, frequently by ourselves!
Feng Shou, as with the other Lishi Arts, is based on Daoist principles – we do not fight, we do not compete, we do not get injured. The Lishi YANG Arts classes are active and physically engaging, with the soft style, non-competitive self-defence like movement.
Training in the various Lishi Arts affects positive change in people’s lives for an improvement in physical, mental, emotional health and spiritual well-being. If you are the kind of person that wants an activity that gives you tools to start taking control of your life – Lishi is for you.
